Professional Modern Dance Class
The technique is based in the Limon tradition with elements of release, some jazz and some ballet.

Mondays: 6-7 (level I) Cost: $14.

class descriptions:
ADULTS: All levels of modern taught by Ellen are technique classes based in the Jose Limon tradition. Each class is designed to build strength, and the understanding of weight and flow of movement. Ellen uses fun and interesting music in a friendly and encouraging class environment... and often laughs at her own mistakes.
Level I: A basic understanding of modern dance or ballet is necessary for this class. We develop dance technique, build strength and memorizations skills.
Level II: Developing a deeper understanding of Limon technique and introduction to Release Technique. Weight, rebound, flow, suspension, and effortless motion.
Class consists of: Warm-up, back-work, deep stretches, traditional technique for legs, feet, and back. Movement across the floor (at times can be improvisationally based) and class combination.
Level II/III: Developing a deeper understanding of Limon technique and Release technique. Weight, rebound, flow, suspension, and effortless motion at a professional level.*
Class consists of: Warm-up, back-work, deep stretches, traditional technique for legs, feet, and back. Movement across the floor (at times can be improvisationally based) and class combination.
* These classes move at a faster pace and knowledge of the technique is assumed. The combination at the end of class is more complex at this level. ( at times Ellen will use choreography from her dance company on these students).
