Spank Dance classes
improvisation/choreography
CALENDAR OF CLASSES
July 13-22, 1:00-3:00: Youth choreography @ Tapestry Dance Studio summer camp and intensive
In my opinion the road to choreography begins with some or all of the following: movement improvisation (alone or with others), written and mental imagery, experimentation of all kinds, artifacts/objects to support concepts, and other people to collaborate with.
In a workshop or course setting, I will offer a methodology to making dances that can be adapted for all kinds of movement implementation, whether that implementation is for site-dance, dance on film, the concert stage, or for plays.
The choreographic tools offered in the class can assist any artist/teacher who is interested in creating relevant movement to a particular concept or point of view. The tools are easily workable for a the professional dancer, the physical actor, and for diverse ages and abilities.
Who is this workshop for?
It is for the dancer or actor who wishes to develop their improvisation skills so they may bring more to the creative process within their field. It is for the choreographer, movement theripist, teacher, or theatre director who wishes to add more tools to their toolbox. It is also for all of the above to work within my process and explore the kinds of movements I enjoy working with in the studio.
IMPROV/CHOREO WORKSHOP CALENDAR
This workshop is for six or more and can be designed to meet the needs of the participants: from a one-day event, to a several day residency. We can gear the class toward heavy improvisation-less choreography or the reverse. The workshop can also be geard toward general skill building or toward working with my own Spank Dance concepts.
